American Kestrel
(also called sparrow hawk, killy hawk and wind hover)

Smallest falcon in North America. Males have blue on wings while females are mostly brown.

Body length 8 inches to 12 inches; weight 2 ounces to 6 ounces; wingspan 20 inches to 24 inches.

Lives in most of North, Central and South America. Cavity dwellers living in farmland, orchards, open country, grasslands, city parks, desert, prairies, but not in dense forests.

Hunts large insects, small rodents, small birds, reptiles.
