Great horned owl
(Bubo virginianus - referred to as the "tiger" of the sky)
- Largest of our tufted
owls.

- Body length 18 inches
to 25 inches; weight 2-pounds to 5-pounds;
wingspan 3-1/2 feet to 5-1/2 feet.

- Lives everywhere except
very dense forests and treeless prairies in North, Central
and South America.
|
- Hunts earthworms, reptiles,
amphibians, other birds and mammals up to the size of porcupines
including skunks.
